Arizona Police Honor K-9 Corps

blankThe unveiling of the Arizona Police K-9 Memorial in April of 2006 must have been an emotional moment for all the K-9 officers in attendance.

“Throughout the state, we have a very active Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association (ALECA),” says Owen Keefe, who has recently retired from the Scottsdale Police Force where he spent 23 years in the K-9 division. “It was important to us to have a way to memorialize the dogs who have given their lives in the line of duty.”

The Hollywood Dog Training School

blankIf there is hallowed ground for Hollywood canines, it is not the plaza outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard where The Artist star, Uggie, recently left his pawprint. The hallowed spot for four-legged movie stars would be on the grounds of the Hollywood Dog Training School, a spot that was a hotel of sorts for the better-known of the “furry lovelies” during the 1930s-60s.
