School integration Little Rock Nine Sept 25, 1957

On September 25, 1957, nine black students were escorted into all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, by members of the U.S. military. White protesters agitated against racial integration but the federal law ordered that it was to begin when classes did on September 4. That date proved impossible, but on September 23, the “Little Rock Nine” entered the school through a side door to begin classes. There was so much outrage when the protesters learned the students were in the building that the police ushered them out for their own safety. On September 25, they were taken in through angry crowds under armed guard.
