On May 31, 2005, W. Mark Felt was identified as the informant, “Deep Throat,” who provided information to the Washington Post reporters who were at work on the Watergate scandal. The family decided the time was right to identify Felt as being part of the effort to reveal the truth. Their interview in Vanity Fair took reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein by surprise. They remained true to their word that they would not reveal their sources.
