June 5, 1968 RFK assassinated

On June 5, 1968, Senator Robert Kennedy was assassinated at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He had just addressed his supporters in the ballroom of the hotel after winning the California primary. As his campaign staff ushered him out through the kitchen, he was shot by 22-year-old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan. He died a day later.  Had he lived, Kennedy was in position to receive the Democratic nomination and run against Richard Nixon.
