On March 10, 1926, the book that was to become the first Book-of-the-Month Club selection was published: Lolly Willowes, or The Loving Huntsman, by an English novelist. The plot was about a widow who scandalized her family by moving to a town involved in witchcraft. Club membership did not like it, but clearly the Club flourished despite the early misstep. In 2015, the Club relaunched and has an active web component with active discussion boards about books.
