Battle of Princeton, January 3, 1777

On January 3, 1777, the armies of Washington and Cornwallis faced off at the Battle of Princeton, a continuation of ten days of fighting from Trenton to Princeton.  Washington’s men had bested Cornwallis’s troops at Trenton. As fighting continued, the Redcoats plotted to overpower the exhausted colonists, however George Washington’s men escaped north to Princeton where few British remained. About 275 Redcoats died at the Battle of Princeton. The tide was slowly turning in the Patriots favor.
