On June 25, 1876, the Battle of the Little Bighorn took place in Montana with Native American forces soundly defeating Col. George Armstrong Custer’s troops. As led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull, the Sioux tribes on the Great Plains defiantly fought against being forced to stay on Indian reservations.
