Marconi and first radio signal across Atlantic 12-12-1901

On December 12, 1901 radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi sent the first radio transmission across the Atlantic Ocean. This was a significant step for what was to become the radio industry. The publicity gained by Marconi was a catalyst for more progress. When he died in 1937, the BBC marked the occasion with 2 minutes of silence in tribute to the man who made radio possible.
