Edison Phonograph Nov 21

On November 21, 1877, Thomas Edison revealed his invention of the phonograph. He had been working on a method to record telephone calls and came upon a method to record and play back sound. He set the phonograph aside to work on the light bulb, while others made progress on the phonograph. In 1887, he returned to his work on the device, and by 1906 he formed the National Phonograph Company which produced musical and theatrical selections. He also marketed his own Edison phonograph.
