Quentin Roosevelt

On July 14, 1918, Quentin Roosevelt, a pilot in the U.S. Air Service and the fourth son of former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, was shot down and killed by a German plane in the Second Battle of the Marne in France. Quentin had planned to marry Flora Payne Whitney, the granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt, one of the country’s richest men.
