This Day in History

On June 13, 1966 the Supreme Court handed down its decision in Miranda vs. Arizona, establishing the principle that all criminal suspects must be advised of their rights before interrogation.

On June 16, 1884 the first roller coaster in the U.S. opened on Coney Island. Known as a “switchback railway,” t traveled at 6 mph and cost a nickel.  By the turn of the century, roller coasters were a featured item at many amusement parks.
