Thank you! You are correct. I looked in to how I had come upon the name, “Paint.” It turns out that “Paint Horse” was used in the early radio shows. That said, I am now changing the name of the horse so it will be correct. Thank you!

Thank you for posting. And as you know from reading the article, Jay Silverheels gave a lot of thought to how he portrayed Native Americans. The era limited to some extent, but he did all he could to stretch the boundaries.

There’s just something about Jay Silverheels portrayal of Tonto that had a sense of dignity to it. I don’t know if people realize that but the Lone ranger used him to infiltrate the bad guys. I mean they did not think of a native American as someone intelligent but Tonto could play and I don’t want to use the term the but nothing threatening character who would take in everything the bad guys said and reported back to the Lone Ranger. Then I remember the commercial for Gino’s Pizza Rolls what they were offered some roles and The lone ranger held his hand up said no and tanto just grabbed it which would be like a lot of real people.
