I eventually became the keeper of the letters, photos, and terrible telegrams and led to “Leora’s Letters,” the family stories of five brothers who served, but only two came home. Next month, “What Leora Never Knew: A Granddaughter’s Quest for Answers” will be published. It’s my journey of learning what happened to the three who were lost during the war. I’m Leora’s oldest granddaughter. She was such a delight all those decades after the war. How did she manage!

Thank you so much! As you know, I generally don’t write personal stories, but this one seemed to speak volumes to so many. And yes, she was so poised in her letters, but how torn-up she must have felt.

Thank you for posting….I am happy to keep writing more. This is what I love.

And my stack of possibilities for dog stories this summer is growing! The dogs tell so much about us.
