In the forties my grandfather had a music store with a larger than life replica of the RCA dog in the display window. I once had a picture of me when I was a child hugging the dog. We always called the dog Victor. Unfortunately, I lost track of the photo. However, I do have a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper photo entitled, His Master's Voice, depicting my uncle, then a Pennsylvania Justice of the Peace, Maurice Mysels, alongside the statue of the famous pooch.

You are so right! I just checked the photo at the American Kennel Club. It looks like Nipper had a smoother coat, but you are absolutely right about the similarity. Thank you!

Thanks for the information on Nipper. I was in Stereo/Audio business from 1959 until 2004. I go back to the (mono) single speaker days. I have large stuffed NIPPER in my A/V room and the picture of RCA Nipper at the gramophone. ☮️☮️☮️

In reply to <a href="https://americacomesalive.com/the-rca-dog-an-american-icon/#comment-248472">Ken</a>.

Thank you for sharing your story. Losing a pet is so terribly sad. I am so sorry for your loss. Bandit was so lucky to find your home where you saw him through cancer and to an older age. Bandit is still with you in everything you do when you think of him, and in time, you will probably be able to smile at those memories.
Last week I saw a dog that looked so much like my dog who died three years ago, that I felt running and hugging him. My problem was that I had our two dogs on leashes as I was out for a walk, so a hug with a strange dog was not going to go well....you'll often think of him--that's a good thing.
Take care of yourself and your memories of the RCA cat--perfect.
