Amy, I can identify with what you are doing. I’ve just finished reading through all the letters my father wrote when he was in the infantry during WWII. He was very discreet–as your father must have been—so any additional details I learned by checking maps of France or trying to read about where they were. I’m so glad this was a helpful detail to you. You can see how it happened and how mortified everyone must have been that the dog took a priority seat. Thanks so much for posting.
