Thank you so much for reading the article. You are so right about the contributions of Indian people in so many aspects of life in the United States. The people in the article were suggested to me by a researcher at the World War I Museum in Kansas City. Each one is a wonderful example of how people can create a great life for themselves in this country.
And thank you, too, for mentioning Swami Vivekananda. You have given me someone else to look into.
All best,
Kate

It is indeed a great historical document which makes us , later generation migrants from India, proud and motivates us to contribute for the betterment of the USA through our services; this document shows the the seed was sown so far back and now about 160 years later we see folks of Indian origin showing in every sphere of activities--- politics, industry, medicine etc. if I may add in September 1893 a young monk named Swami Vivekananda came uninvited and penniless to the parliament of world religions held in Chicago; his fiery speech about Vedanta and universal brotherhood without regard to cast creed and religion made him very popular and many Americans became his disciples; Vedanta society centers are in most of large cities of the world.
