Great story.As kind of a follow up I did a little research and found that of the 44 Presidents to date 32 of them have included animals in
their first families,many of them having multiple animals but just about all of the 32 had dogs,including the Obama’s Portuguse Water Dog Bo.Going back to the 20th,19th,and 18th centuries many of them included horses,goats,birds,sheep,and many
other animals.Teddy Roosevelt had
close to 20 different animals,the
majority of them dogs.And of course
many of them called the White House
home along with the First Families
while they resided there.Gerald Ford’s Golden Retriever Liberty had a litter of pups while he was there and he kept one of her pups
as a White House pet also.But as you said dogs have been a big part
in the lives of the First Families
