Fantastic story Kate.As I have told
the readers I at first had two therapy dogs and then one when my Golden passed away and it gave me great pleasure to go to Children's
hospital of Philadelphia and also to many nursing homes to bring the dogs.It put such a big smile on my face and warmed my heart greatly especially to see how the dogs gave
such joy to the children, many of whom had very bad diseases such as cancer and how just being able to bring joy to the kids and elders that this would bring to them.As you stated bringing therapy dogs to airports is something new but I
believe it is a fantastic idea when
you consider that many of these dogs greeting people are our service men and women coming home from serving our country and also just regular people going or coming
from somewhere where they see a dog with a jacket on it that says please pet me.Like I said having therapy dogs myself I know what they must go through just to get that certification. It is a very,
very hard test for them to pass to
get certified. It is hard enough for
them to get certified to do as what I did with my dogs, but to take
it one step farther and have them certified to go to an airport where
there are thousands of people there
at any time especially at an airport like LAX is incredible and
I must take my hat off to the owners of these fantastic animals
and obviously the dogs themselves to be able to go one step above to
go into a situation where there are many more people and they still must behave and be like big puppies to interact when there are so many more people and the environment is hyped up so much more but they still behave the same as they are going to a hospital where they might be around
20 or 30 people.Hats off to the owners and the animals that do this.I respect you so much Kate as you bring these stories to light for everyone to read.
All my best,Ray
