Mrs. Asta had a litter of pups that all looked liked her and Asta except one black puppy. A black dog from next door came to visit. Aster’s face showed astonishment. He ran after the other dog who ran down the road to get away. He did come back to visit I think one more time despite Asta’s attemp to block his entrance.

Does anyone have the answer to this? My guess isthat the pup returned (don’t they always in movies and TV?)

I missed a part of After The Thin Man. I saw Asta and Mrs Asta with the pups. The one little all black pup got out of the pen and ran down the street. My question: did the pup return to Asta. Mrs Asta and his siblings?

Thank you for your question, but I’m not finding anything about cause of death or burial. His last films were 1941. When they needed a dog for The Thin Man later in the 1940s, his part was played by a dog referred to as Astra Jr. That dog may or may not have been a descendant. However, in 1957, when they began the TV series, Asta was played by a great-grandson of Skippy.
Skippy was trained by well-known trainers Henry East, Rudd Weatherwax, and Frank Inn. When the dogs were no longer performing, they tended to simply stay as part of a trainer’s family unit.
