The link is of found family film of the cruiser near Erie, Pa taken by my grandfather on it’s trip to Boston. All my years watching these films, never remember seeing it before. So Enjoy.

Thank you very much for posting! Your comments add to the depth of the article. The size of those tires is so remarkable that when I think of the story, it’s the photo of the tire I remember.

Your grandfather must have been a very special man. How terrific that even with his job at Goodyear he took time to spend with his grandson.

My Grandfather Cruse Watson Moss was Chief Engineer for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Off road, spent most of his time in the Middle East (prior to pipelines. I have several of his letters to my father and my grandmother from Egypt, And other nearby nations. In fact he has a few patents to his name, which of course belong to Goodyear. It was his division that designed the first tire on the moon

Ie am certain that the Snow Cruiser was overall Pullman’s design. But if you look closely at many of the pictures of the tires, they clearly show the name Goodyear which was m grandfather’s division at the time. After all he logged 40+ years with the company.

Side note: some of my fondest memories are having lunch with my grandfather at the white tablecloth, fine silver and crystal stemware in the top floor of the Goodyear headquarters in downtown Akron, OH, cannot remember the name of it, but it was VERY fancy!

Thank you for sharing this article about the Pullman made vehicle for Admiral Byrd.
I was able to provide these details to my son and grandson about this vehicle that my uncle Andrew DeMarco who was in charge of quality control for it. He told me about his role.

What an interesting story and true as well! I have been a resident of an original Pullman rowhouse for the past 18 years! it is located in the old company town of Pullman now a city, state & federal Historic Landmark District in the Pullman State Historic National Park!
