I can remember as a boy in the 1960’s visiting Lincoln’s Springfield home and seeing a picture of the dog hanging in the hallway with the name “Fido” under it. Until now, i had always assumed it was likely Lincoln’s dog but it’s real name was lost to history and someone just attached a generic name to it. I looked for the picture when I returned to his home in the early 2000’s but didn’t see it anywhere.

by Abraham Lincoln and his life. I’ve read several books about him and his family but this is the first time I’ve learned of his love for his dog and also a cat.
